December always seems to fly by in a whirlwind. Life gets so busy with all of the decorating, shopping, baking, and special holiday events that there’s no time left at the end of each day before my head hits the pillow. To slow things down to a pace more comfortable to me, I intentionally carve out time at night to record special memories inside of a December journal.
My journal is usually made from a mix of vintage and scrapbook papers and I love using ribbons, lace, fussy cuts, and stickers to decorate the pages. I’ve been recording December in a dedicated journal for over ten years and here are my top 5 items I turn to every single year:
- A List of Movies Watched During the Month

I love keeping track of the movies I watch during the entire month of December. For this page, I used a stamp date next to the name of the movie that I recorded with pen.
2. Special Events

I try to keep all of the programs and tickets from special events we attend. It adds so much to the memory you are preserving on the page.
3. Notes and Letters

I love including lunch notes in my kids’ lunchboxes in the month of December and tucking them away in my journal for safekeeping.
4. Traditions

Each year we take a trip to the Christmas Tree Farm to cut down our Christmas tree. This year, I recorded it in my journal by painting a picture of the tree and stapling the tree tag at the to top of the page.
5. Favorite Christmas Cards

Admittedly, Christmas cards are not plentiful in our mailbox anymore, but from the few we do still receive, I pull out my favorites and use them as a page design.
I so enjoy working in my December journal every year. More so, it’s so wonderful to look back on past December journals to rekindle the warm memories of years ago. I am always sad when December comes to a close and the last page in my journal is complete. But I take comfort knowing all of my supplies are safely tucked away and patiently awaiting the next holiday year.
Till next time,

How splendid, this makes me want to make a December journal. ๐ Do you make a January journal too?
Yes! I usually make a journal for each season, so Iโll be posting my winter journal very soon!
Lovely! I can’t wait. ๐
