Thereās still 13 days left of sweet November, but why does it feel like December is knocking at my door? This year, Iām working in my autumn journal through the end of November and wonāt begin working in a December journal until the first of the month. Creating a December journal has been kind of tricky. Iām not really interested in a Christmas-themed journal per se and instead Iām focused on creating a journal aligned with the season. But, Iāve found when you donāt make Christmas the absolute focus of December, visually capturing it aesthetically becomes quite difficult. Outside, it still looks a lot like November right now with leaves clinging to trees and temperatures in flux. In contrast, January is stark, snowy, and cold. Through this process, Iāve discovered December is caught in the middle of these two visual opposites, responsible for the enormous transition from autumn to winter.
