Happy Monday, friends! I am so excited to finally announce the official arrival of the first issue of a brand new project I dreamt up many moons ago -- Gina's Journal. Every month, I will be releasing a new issue full of vintage ephemera, cozy illustrations, homemade recipes, crafts, quotes -- all of the unique … Continue reading Gina’s Journal – It’s Here!

What the 12 Days of Christmas Mean to Me

December 31, 2022March 6, 2023 ~ ginamakesit ~ Leave a comment

In the early morning hours of December 26 while Princess (my sweet Ragdoll kitty) and I sat in the reflection of the Christmas tree lights and watched the rising sun cast pink and blue hues across the sky, I started to think about the 12 Days of Christmas. The previous 25 days were packed with … Continue reading What the 12 Days of Christmas Mean to Me

My New Autumn Journal

September 25, 2022March 6, 2023 ~ ginamakesit ~ 2 Comments

In this season of my life, I sometimes sit and think about paths I should have taken or missed opportunities. I always end up chalking all of my perceived mistakes up to inexperience. I sometimes try really hard to think about my mindset during certain periods of my life to identify my motivation for doing … Continue reading My New Autumn Journal

Summer’s End—A New Junk Journal & Ephemera Kit

August 10, 2022March 6, 2023 ~ ginamakesit ~ Leave a comment

August is here and a few weekends ago, I spent some much needed downtime putting the finishing touches on my summer journal (watch my process here). I know, I know, summer isn't over just yet. But if you happened to follow along with me last year, you know my absolute favorite part of summer is … Continue reading Summer’s End—A New Junk Journal & Ephemera Kit

Wintering — A New Junk Journal Kit

January 9, 2022March 6, 2023 ~ ginamakesit ~ 1 Comment

As my journaling practice evolves, inevitably so do my junk journals. If you follow me on YouTube or Instagram, it's no big shock to hear me say within this last year, I have found myself completely aligned with the seasons. The rhythm of nature and the turning of the seasons has become the drum to … Continue reading Wintering — A New Junk Journal Kit

Celebrating the Beauty of December

December 1, 2021March 6, 2023 ~ ginamakesit ~ 2 Comments

Two years ago, I'd laugh if you told me December would become a favorite month of mine. December? The month that signaled the start of what seemed like an endless string of long, dark, and chilly days? No way! The first of December usually marked the point I would begin counting out on my fingers … Continue reading Celebrating the Beauty of December

Hello, There

November 25, 2021March 6, 2023 ~ ginamakesit ~ 2 Comments

It’s been a while since I’ve given this blog a proper update, so I thought I would carve some time out this Thanksgiving holiday and start anew. You’ve probably noticed that Free Vintage Fridays have stopped rather abruptly. I always meant to use this space as a blog, in its truest sense. And as with … Continue reading Hello, There

New Fall Journal + Circle of Leaves — Free Vintage Friday

October 8, 2021March 6, 2023 ~ ginamakesit ~ Leave a comment

The calendar says it's October 8 and while it feels more like August 8 outside, the leaves have indeed begun to turn and float softly to the ground. My Summer Twilight journal was quickly coming to an end, so I knew it was time to start working on a new fall journal. I used an … Continue reading New Fall Journal + Circle of Leaves — Free Vintage Friday

On the Road: Travel Journal Tips

July 23, 2021March 6, 2023 ~ ginamakesit ~ 1 Comment

Vacationing in an RV is hard work -- but we love it! There are so many perks, but I especially love the downtime when I can work in my journal. My husband always chooses to drive, which means I have endless hours to navigate AND work in my travel journal. I find it’s the best … Continue reading On the Road: Travel Journal Tips

The Basics of Junk Journaling

April 16, 2021March 6, 2023 ~ ginamakesit ~ 1 Comment

Junk journaling is an enigma -- my YouTube and social media friends tell me this all of the time! I think it's the name that is misleading. I mean who really wants a journal made out of junk? They also tell me there's so MUCH information out there, they simply can't decipher it all. It's … Continue reading The Basics of Junk Journaling

I’ve been helping my mom through some tough times these past few weeks, so I haven’t had much energy to work in my journal, but I know it’s waiting for me when I’m ready. 💕
In today’s YouTube video, I am making Collage Masterboard Pen Pal Happy Mail. It’s a lot easier to make than say! Link in profile or my stories!
I love you today as I have from the start. And I’ll love you forever with all of my heart.
I am retiring a bunch of listings in my Etsy store to make room for new listings. The listings impacted are currently on sale through March 20 and will be removed shortly thereafter. In the interim, I am having so much fun working on the new listings. I actually use them in projects, so if something isn’t working for me, then I know it’s definitely not user-friendly and I go back and tweak it. It’s like a form of creative engineering. Monday rolled around fast and furious, but I was able to squeeze in another 5-minute journaling session today using some old die cut experiments and embroidered scraps.
I often find myself with days that only offer 5 or 10 minutes of creativity. It’s just the way life is in this modern world. They’re not my favorite days, but they definitely do happen. In the past, when I only had a few chunks of time in my craft room, I used to feel so pressured under the time crunch that I would just sit trying to decide what to do until I literally ran out of time. Recently, I began using these small time intervals to experiment with dies or stencils or a new technique I saw online. Ironically, I was left with a pile of experimental “stuff” that could easily be incorporated into a super short journaling session on days when I’m pressed for time. Today was one of those days and I bring you along in a 5-Minute Journaling session in my latest YouTube video—> YouTube.com/GinaMakesit
