Evergreen Trees — Free Template

There’s something magical about evergreen trees during the winter season. Feeling quite inspired by them, I decided to make a few templates to use over the next few months.

For my first project using the template, I decided to make a tree using some ruffled vintage lace. I love how it turned out! I originally planned to use this tree as a journaling card, but quickly decided to use it as simple page element.

Watch me make the vintage lace tree here:

I traced the largest template on some coffee-dyed card stock and cut it out. After picking my lace, I used my sewing machine to create a loose ruffle. Next, I simply glued the ruffled lace down and trimmed the sides. Adding a brown vintage button was the finishing touch!

I chose a vintage lace for this project that had a nice drape on the bottom of it. I sell this vintage lace in my Etsy store, if interested. It was easy to ruffle by just creating a long basting stitch with my sewing machine. If there was an area that “lost” its ruffle, simply pulling on the end of the thread worked to gather it again.
