Crepe Paper Numbers

March 26, 2017 ~ ginamakesit ~ Leave a comment

I needed a fast, easy, and wallet-friendly party decoration and the first thing that came to mind was a good old-fashioned crepe paper number. You know, the kind where you cut squares, wrap it around a pencil and glue it on. Back in grade school, we used this technique a lot in art class and I … Continue reading Crepe Paper Numbers

1 Piece of Paper, 6 Cards

March 22, 2017March 22, 2017 ~ ginamakesit ~ Leave a comment

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a thrifty project where I transformed one piece of paper into six cards. Say what?!? I took this paper to the right and fussy cut six images from it. Then I determined a corresponding background shape and color and cut it out either using a punch, my Cricut or just a paper … Continue reading 1 Piece of Paper, 6 Cards

Waterfall Folio Album

March 19, 2017April 4, 2017 ~ ginamakesit ~ Leave a comment

Hi everyone! I recently dove into the world of album making -- and I am totally hooked! For a few months now, I have been watching YouTubers (specifically My Sisters Scrapper) make album after album online and finally, I overcame my immense trepidation and just decided to jump head-first in. (I used this tutorial online and it was fabulous!) … Continue reading Waterfall Folio Album

Luck O’ the Irish Cardmaking

March 9, 2017April 4, 2017 ~ ginamakesit ~ Leave a comment

Happy {early} St. Patrick's Day! So I am zero (zilch!) Irish, but my sweet niece is 50% Irish, so I try to send her a fun St. Patrick's day card every year. This year, I created this Lucky Leprechaun card featured above. I also detailed my process in the YouTube video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TvBXs6wtSs When I was … Continue reading Luck O’ the Irish Cardmaking

The seasonal drum continues to beat constant in my life with each sunrise and sunset, morning, noon, and night.
And here we all are, at once, with one foot standing tall and loyal in summer’s warm ray and the other foot carefully, tentatively, dipping into the golden ponds of autumn. On the edge of autumn is simply the best place to be.
I noticed a perceptible change this morning when I opened my eyes. The sun was younger, less alive than it was a week ago at the same time, not quite over the horizon, but not quite under it. The days, though still warm, have begun to noticeably shorten. The inky nights have started to lengthen and cool. The soft descent of summer has begun.
At the end of every journal, I like to write a letter to myself about where I’m at in my life and where I think I’m going. In my most recent journal, I started thinking about the idea of gratitude and how its meaning has shifted so significantly for me over the past few years. It’s interesting to note its evolution alongside the evolution of my own life and how it has paralleled the worries, the grief—and most recently, the happiness. It’s so clear to me now that gratitude is not something to have, but instead something to be. It’s an ever present mindset, a way to think, feel and ultimately live to fully experience the wonder found in each and every day.
Good morning from Illinois! ☀️
August is here and over the weekend I spent some time finishing my summer journal. I know, I know, summer isn't over just yet. But if you happened to follow along with me last year, you know my absolute favorite part of summer is approaching.
